CHESS-PIECES - MOODY LIGHTING!
One of each piece, of each colour. The board in this render uses a digital scan of my own chess board, used as a material texture, applied to the NORMAL value as well as colour, to give it a realistic look.
SAME PIC - PRINT VERSION
This is a similar render (but slightly different angle), with the levels, saturation and contrast tweaked for printing.
MAKING THE KNIGHT
These are a couple of screen-shots of Blender-3D, whilst building the model of the Knight. As you can see, I EXTRUDED the main body, altering it's shape as I went - then used a SHPERE as a starting point to form the nose - then joined them togother by creating edges between the relevant vertices, modelling any detail as it was necessary.
